BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!
I had a fantastic experience at the Cabarete Language Institute. My teacher was Gaston and he completely tailored my classes to what was most relevant for my daily life in the DR and my very beginner level of Spanish. He took me on little excursions around Cabarete to speak with local Dominicans and learn in a more experiential setting which included a shopping trip at the local grocery store. Gaston became not only a teacher, but a very good friend, which made learning much more fun and easy. I was enrolled in the Learn Spanish and Volunteer Program, and was able to volunteer at the Inspire DR Foundation. This in itself has been such a fulfilling opportunity, learning Spanish and volunteering with Spanish speaking boys and helping them with their English as they helped me with my Spanish. Gaston also volunteers with the InspireDr group which enhanced my learning experience even more. I think the CLI curriculum is great and the teachers are what makes the experience, in three short weeks I was able to learn so much and have come so far with my Spanish, and plan on continuing with my Spanish once back in Canada. I’m sad that my time with CLI has ended, but grateful for all that I learned.
